Introduction

DFG (patent pending) is a new directional microphone series based on the omnidirectional FG series. The front port of the DFG is located on the surface opposite the terminal pads, identical to the FG series. The rear port consists of multiple slits positioned along the sides at half the diameter. Three models are currently available. Directional performance is 100% tested in production using a fixture contacting the microphone terminals, with measurements taken in a semi-anechoic chamber. Typical near-field response is measured at 6mm from the aperture of a B&K Type 4227 mouth simulator, while typical far-field and polar performance are measured at 1m from the sound source in an anechoic chamber. Placing the microphone element inside a housing typically increases the distance between the front and rear ports, shifts the cardioid pattern toward a supercardioid pattern, and improves near-field sensitivity.
