BC7275(A) features 5-digit/6-digit LED display management. The BC7275 supports 5-digit display, while the BC7275A is an extension of the BC7275 that can directly replace it, with the CS pin repurposed as a 6th digit display output. With segment addressing support, each display segment can be controlled independently, making it suitable for driving up to 40/48 independent LEDs. BC7275(A) supports blinking display with adjustable blink rate, and each segment's blink can be controlled independently — particularly useful when using individual LED indicators.
BC7275(A) provides an internal decode function, allowing users to write values directly to the decode register to obtain the corresponding numeric display. During decoded display, the decimal point of that digit is unaffected, so users only need to update the display data without worrying about the decimal point — especially convenient for users who use the decimal point as a separate indicator. Direct write to the display register is also supported for rendering special characters.
BC7275(A) uses a serial interface compatible with standard SPI, with a communication rate up to 64Kbps. Users can fully leverage the hardware SPI interface resources on their microprocessor; when using interrupt-driven mode, display communication consumes virtually no main program time. The BC7275 SPI interface supports both 2-wire and 3-wire modes. When driving 6 digits, the BC7275A supports only 2-wire mode. In 3-wire mode, the CS signal allows multiple devices to share a single SPI bus; when MCU I/O resources are limited, the CS line can be tied directly to ground. In 2-wire mode, a unique internal SPI timing reset logic ensures error-free communication even without the interface reset function of a chip select signal.
