Introduction

The MS5803-02BA is a new generation high-resolution altimeter sensor from TE Connectivity, featuring SPI and I²C bus interfaces. It is optimized for altimeter and variometer applications, with an altitude resolution of 20 cm. The sensor module integrates a high-linearity pressure sensor and an ultra-low-power 24-bit ΔΣ ADC with factory-calibrated coefficients. It delivers precise 24-bit digital pressure and temperature values along with multiple operating modes, enabling users to optimize for conversion speed and current consumption. The high-resolution temperature output supports combined altimeter/thermometer functionality without requiring an additional sensor. The MS5803-02BA is compatible with virtually any microcontroller via a straightforward communication protocol that requires no internal register programming. Gel protection and a non-magnetic stainless steel cap make it suitable for altimeter/compass watches rated to 100 m water resistance. This new-generation sensor module is based on leading MEMS technology, benefiting from TE's proven experience and expertise in high-volume manufacturing of altimeter modules that have been widely deployed for over a decade. Its sensing principle delivers extremely low hysteresis and high stability for both pressure and temperature signals.
