CUR 3105 is a Hall-effect-based current sensor designed for high-precision current measurement. The output voltage is proportional to both the measured current and the supply voltage (ratiometric analog output). Key characteristics — such as magnetic field range, sensitivity, output quiescent voltage (output voltage at B = 0 mT), and output voltage range — are programmable and stored in an internal EEPROM. Different sensors connected in parallel to the same supply voltage can be programmed individually.
CUR 3105 integrates a temperature-compensated Hall plate with chopper offset compensation, an A/D converter, digital signal processing, a D/A converter with output driver, EEPROM memory with redundancy and lock features (for storing calibration data), EEPROM for storing customer serial numbers, a serial programming interface, and protection circuitry on all pins. The internal digital signal processing is highly beneficial, as analog offset, temperature drift, and mechanical stress do not degrade sensor accuracy.
CUR 3105 is programmed via supply voltage modulation, requiring no additional programming pins. The easy-to-program feature allows two-point calibration by directly adjusting the output voltage to the input signal (current). Each sensor can be individually calibrated during the customer's manufacturing process. This calibration procedure enables compensation of IC and mechanical positioning tolerances in the final assembly.
Calculation of individual IC characteristics and EEPROM programming can be conveniently performed using a PC and the Micronas application kit.
The sensor is designed for industrial, white goods, and automotive applications, typically operating at a 5V supply voltage with a junction temperature range of -40°C to 170°C. CUR 3105 is available in the compact leaded package TO92UT and the SMD package SOIC8.
