Introduction

All components in this series integrate a photodiode, amplifier, voltage regulator, Schmitt trigger, and NPN output transistor on a single silicon die. The OPL560 also integrates a voltage regulator on-chip. All devices in the series employ Photologic chips, packaged in molded plastic side-looking packages with integrated lenses (OPL535 and OPL536 use embedded integrated lenses). This package provides enhanced optical coupling with mechanical protection. The Schmitt trigger hysteresis on each device provides high immunity to noise on the input and VCC.

The OPL530, OPL531, OPL535, and OPL536 include a 10KΩ pull-up resistor (Rₗ) between the output and VCC. These components exhibit highly stable performance across a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 16V and a wide range of irradiance levels. The OPL550 and OPL551 devices feature TTL/LSTTL-compatible logic level outputs, capable of driving up to 8 TTL loads without additional circuitry, with medium-speed data rates up to 250 kBaud and typical rise and fall times of 25 nanoseconds. The OPL560, OPL561, OPL562, and OPL563 devices feature TTL/LSTTL-compatible logic level outputs, capable of driving up to 10 TTL loads over a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 16V.

The OPL530, OPL531, OPL550, OPL551, OPL560, OPL561, OPL562, and OPL563 are mechanically and spectrally matched to OP140 and OP240 LEDs. The OPL535 and OPL536 are mechanically and spectrally matched to the OP145 and OP245 series LEDs.
