Introduction
This device is a CMOS LDO linear regulator with an input voltage range of 2.3V to 6.5V and an output current of up to 2A. It is ideal for regulating high-performance analog and mixed-signal circuits operating at voltages from 6V down to 1.2V. Built on an advanced proprietary architecture, the device offers high PSRR and low noise, requiring only a single 4.7µF ceramic output capacitor to achieve excellent load transient response. Both fixed and adjustable output voltage versions are available, with 16 fixed output voltages in stock: 1.2V, 1.3V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 1.85V, 2V, 2.2V, 2.5V, 2.75V, 2.8V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 3.8V, 4.2V, 4.6V, and 5.0V. An adjustable output version is also available, allowing the output voltage to be set from 1.2V to VIN–VDO. Startup time can be adjusted via the soft-start pin to control inrush current. With a 1nF soft-start capacitor, the typical startup time is 0.8ms. The regulator output noise is 5μVrms (100Hz–100kHz), independent of the output voltage. The 8-pin 3mm×3mm DFN-8 package provides a compact solution with excellent thermal dissipation, suitable for space-constrained applications requiring output currents up to 2A. With a quiescent current as low as 4.4mA at full load, this low quiescent current LDO is well suited for portable devices. Typical shutdown current consumption at room temperature is 0.8µA. Optimized for use with a small 4.7µF ceramic capacitor, the device delivers excellent transient performance. A built-in OTP programming module allows the output voltage to be programmed to one of 16 fixed values from 1.2V to 5V. For applications requiring output voltages below 5V, it is recommended to use OTP programming for the SENSE pin voltage and short the SENSE and VOUT pins together. This approach eliminates the need for external voltage-divider resistors while maintaining low-noise performance and reducing the external component count. The architecture also allows any fixed output voltage to be set to a higher level using external voltage-divider resistors. When an output voltage above 5V is required, the corresponding connection method can be used; in this case, the value of R2 should be less than 200KΩ to minimize output voltage error, as output voltage accuracy is also affected by the quiescent current at the SENSE pin.
