Introduction

TPQ5057xQ (including TPQ5057Q and TPQ50571Q) is a wide input range non-synchronous boost converter integrating a 48-V, 7-A power switch. The device supports boost, SEPIC, and flyback topologies. TPQ5057xQ employs a peak current control scheme. The device can start up from voltages as low as 2.9 V. When the VIN pin is powered by an auxiliary supply voltage above 2.9 V, the power stage supply voltage can be as low as 1.5 V. TPQ5057xQ integrates a wide input LDO supporting input voltages up to 45 V to handle automotive load dump, and outputs 5 V at the VCC pin. The switching frequency can be set via an external resistor or synchronized to an external clock in the range of 100 kHz to 2.2 MHz. The 2.2 MHz switching frequency minimizes AM band interference and enables compact solutions with fast transient response. TPQ5057xQ supports an external VCC supply for improved efficiency. Low operating current and pulse-skipping operation improve light-load efficiency. The device incorporates cycle-by-cycle current limiting, overvoltage protection, hiccup-mode overload protection, and thermal shutdown. Additional features include low shutdown current, programmable soft-start, programmable input UVLO, spread spectrum, and power-good indicator. TPQ5057xQ is available in a QFN3x3-16 package.
