Introduction
The TL431 is a three-terminal adjustable shunt voltage regulator. By adjusting two external resistors, the output voltage can be set anywhere between Vref (approximately 2.5V) and 36V. It features low dynamic output impedance (typical value 0.2Ω). Since the output voltage can be programmed via a reference voltage, it serves as an excellent replacement for Zener diodes in many applications and is widely used across various electronic circuits.
