Introduction

GZ1001 is a specialized chip designed for zero-crossing detection circuits, operating by sensing the input voltage. When the input line voltage falls below the threshold, GZ1001 drives an optocoupler to provide a zero-crossing detection signal to the application control system; when the input voltage exceeds the threshold, the output enters a high-impedance state. The chip features extremely low power consumption, with a quiescent current of less than 10 µA, allowing most of the electrical energy to be used for driving the optocoupler, thereby producing a wider zero-crossing detection pulse that is easier for the system to detect. The VIN pin incorporates an internal Schmitt trigger with a high-level threshold of 2.5V and a low-level threshold of 0.6V; the built-in hysteresis characteristic also makes GZ1001 more effective at filtering glitches on the power line, reliably preventing false zero-crossing detections caused by signal noise on the power line. GZ1001 integrates an internal rectifier diode for rectifying the input voltage, requiring only a single capacitor to power both the chip and the optocoupler; a Zener diode is also integrated at the input to clamp the maximum voltage, keeping the overall solution to a minimum number of external components. GZ1001 is available in a SOT23-3 package.
