Introduction
MP5330 is a single-chip power bank management solution that integrates a synchronous boost converter, lithium battery charge management, battery level indication, push-button control, and Type-C protocol support.
Its high integration and rich feature set, combined with a single-inductor charge/discharge topology, requires minimal external components, significantly reducing overall solution size and BOM cost.
MP5330 operates in two modes: charging and boost. It manages system and battery power based on input status. When input power is present, MP5330 operates in charging mode and automatically detects battery voltage to implement three-stage charging: trickle, constant current, and constant voltage.
When the battery voltage is at or above 3.2V, a short press of the button or inserting a load while in standby mode will activate the boost and operate in output constant voltage mode. Under light load or no-load conditions, MP5330 automatically enters sleep mode to reduce standby power consumption.
MP5330 integrates comprehensive protection features, including: output overcurrent, overvoltage, and short-circuit protection; input overvoltage/undervoltage, current limiting, overcurrent, charging current over-temperature derating, and adapter adaptability; battery overcharge, over-discharge, over/undervoltage, and NTC temperature protection; system-level over-temperature protection and ESD protection, ensuring safe and efficient system operation.
MP5330 supports BC1.2 and Type-C DRP Try.SRC protocols, automatically providing the correct D+ and D− voltage profiles for different devices to enable fast charging compatibility with various devices (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Samsung, etc.).
