Introduction

LY5800B is a low-side overvoltage protection IC with an integrated 45mΩ low on-resistance NMOS switch, effectively reducing input voltage drop, supporting a maximum input voltage of 30V. The overvoltage protection threshold is adjustable via external feedback pin voltage divider resistors or a Zener diode with resistor combination, and should be set below 12V. Two configuration methods are available: First, connect voltage divider resistors to the feedback pin — the OVP threshold is calculated as V_OVP = 0.54 × (R1 + R2)/R2 (V), with R2 recommended in the range of 470Ω to 1kΩ; Second, connect a Zener diode in series with a resistor to the feedback pin — the OVP threshold is calculated as V_OVP = Vzener + 0.54V, with a 6.1V Zener diode recommended at a current rating greater than 5mA. This method provides lower sensitivity to operating current and temperature variations; recommended for applications where operating current exceeds 1.5A.
