Introduction

This product provides an integrated brushed DC motor driver solution for battery-powered toys, low-voltage or battery-powered motion control applications. The circuit integrates an H-bridge driver designed with N-channel and P-channel power MOSFETs, suitable for driving brushed DC motors or one winding of a stepper motor. The circuit features a wide operating voltage range (from 2V to 9.6V), a maximum continuous output current of 2.1A, and a maximum peak output current of 3.5A.

The driver circuit incorporates built-in over-temperature protection. When the load current through the driver significantly exceeds the maximum continuous rating, the junction temperature of the internal die will rise rapidly due to the thermal dissipation limitations of the package. Once the temperature exceeds the set threshold (typical value 150°C), the internal circuit will immediately shut down the output power transistors to cut off the load current, preventing continued temperature rise that could cause the plastic package to smoke or catch fire, and other safety hazards. The built-in thermal hysteresis circuit ensures that the circuit is allowed to be re-enabled only after it has cooled back to a safe temperature.
