Introduction

AMIS-30622 is a stepper motor driver integrating a position controller and a control/diagnostic interface, with all functions integrated in a single chip. The device can be connected to a microcontroller as a peripheral with minimal loading on the microcontroller. The chip receives high-level positioning commands via the I2C interface and subsequently drives the motor coils until the desired position is reached. The on-chip position controller is configurable for different motor types, positioning ranges, and parameters such as speed, acceleration, deceleration, holding current, and safe position. Six OTP bytes are available for setting default values, which can be overridden by values programmed via the I2C bus. The AMIS-30622 operates as a slave device on the serial bus, allowing the master to retrieve specific status information such as actual position and error flags from each individual slave node.
