Introduction

The ICL7106 and ICL7107 are high-performance, low-power 3½-digit ADC circuits. They incorporate a seven-segment decoder, display driver, reference source, and clock system. The ICL7106 includes a backplane drive output for use with LCD displays; the ICL7107 can directly drive LEDs. The ICL7106 and ICL7107 combine high accuracy, versatility, and truly low cost in a single device. Key features include auto-zero capability below 10μV, zero drift less than 1μV/°C, input current below 10pA, and rollover error of less than one count. The true differential input and differential reference are useful in a wide variety of system applications. These devices are particularly advantageous when used with load cells, pressure gauges, and other bridge-type sensors. Furthermore, a high-performance instrument panel meter can be built around the ICL7106 using only approximately ten passive components and an LCD, achieving low cost and single-supply operation.
