Introduction

CH451 is a multifunctional peripheral chip integrating LED display driving, keyboard scanning control, and μP supervisory functions. With a built-in RC oscillator, it can dynamically drive 8-digit 7-segment displays or 64 discrete LEDs, supporting BCD decoding, blinking, and shift functions. It also provides 64-key keyboard scanning, exchanges data with MCUs via a cascadable serial interface, and offers supervisory functions including power-on reset and watchdog timer.

• Display Driver:
  • Built-in high-current drive stage; segment current ≥25mA, digit current ≥150mA.
  • Dynamic display scan control, directly drives 8-digit seven-segment displays or 64 LEDs.
  • Selectable no-decode mode (segment-to-data bit direct mapping) or BCD decode mode for seven-segment displays.
  • Digit data left shift, right shift, left rotate, and right rotate for seven-segment displays.
  • Independent blinking control for each digit.
  • Arbitrary segment addressing; independent on/off control of individual LEDs or individual segments of each digit.
  • 16-level brightness control via duty cycle setting.
  • Segment current limit adjustment; eliminates the need for current-limiting resistors.
  • Scan limit control; supports 1 to 8 digits, allocating scan time only to active digits.
• Keyboard Controller:
  • Built-in 64-key keyboard controller based on 8×8 matrix keyboard scanning.
  • Built-in pull-down resistors for key state input and integrated debounce circuit.
  • Keyboard interrupt with active-low output.
  • Key release flag for polling key press and release events.
• Other:
  • High-speed 4-wire serial interface with multi-chip cascade support; clock speed from 0 to 10MHz.
  • DIN and DCLK signal lines on the serial interface are shareable with other interface circuits, reducing pin count.
  • Fully integrated clock oscillator circuit; no external crystal or RC oscillator required.
  • Built-in power-on reset and watchdog (Watch-Dog); provides active-high and active-low reset outputs.
  • Low-power sleep mode support for power saving; wake-up via key press or command.
  • Supply voltage: 3V to 5V.
  • Available in SOP28 and DIP24S lead-free packages, RoHS compliant.
  • Pin and function largely compatible with the CH452 chip in 4-wire interface mode.
