Introduction

GR4056 is a single-cell lithium-ion battery CC/CV linear charger IC with battery reverse polarity protection. Housed in an ESOP8 package with minimal external components, it is ideally suited for portable applications. The IC is compatible with both USB power supplies and adapter power sources. Its internal PMOSFET architecture with integrated anti-backflow circuitry eliminates the need for an external isolation diode. A thermal feedback loop automatically adjusts the charge current to limit junction temperature under high-power or high-temperature conditions. When input voltage is removed, the IC automatically enters a low-current state with a typical battery leakage current of less than 1uA. Additional features include battery temperature sensing, UVLO, automatic recharge, and two LED status pins indicating charging status and end-of-charge.
