Introduction

LY6298 is a fully integrated power management IC designed for Bluetooth charging cases. It integrates lithium battery charge management, a synchronous boost converter, battery fuel gauge, and protection functions. The IC supports direct Hall sensor drive control of the EN pin, enabling automatic headphone reconnection on case open, LED illumination for 8 seconds on case open, and automatic boost activation on case close — eliminating the need for external MOSFETs, transistors, or other output loop control circuits. The EN pin can also be controlled by an MCU to manage OUT output. LY6298 supports two modes: automatic load detection with auto-shutdown, and 5.1V continuous output. In auto-shutdown mode, the standby current is 4uA; in 5.1V continuous output mode, the standby current is 45uA. The IC integrates an NTC temperature protection function, requiring only a single NTC resistor to monitor lithium battery temperature during both charging and discharging. The charging current can be selected and adjusted via the ISETA and ISETB pins, with a maximum charging current of 0.9A.
