Introduction

4060 is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery charger featuring battery polarity reversal protection and 5V input power polarity reversal protection. Its SOT23-5 package and minimal external component count make the 4060 an ideal choice for portable applications.

The internal PMOSFET architecture combined with anti-backflow circuitry eliminates the need for external sense resistors and isolation diodes. Thermal feedback automatically adjusts the charge current to limit die temperature during high-power operation or elevated ambient temperature conditions. The full charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current is set externally via a single resistor. Once the battery reaches 4.2V and the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value, the 4060 automatically terminates charging.

When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power) is removed, the 4060 automatically enters a low-current state with battery leakage current below 0.1uA. Additional features of the 4060 include input power adaptation, charge current monitor, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and a status pin for charge indication.
