Introduction

MC8722 is a monolithic slave interface IC designed for applications compliant with the M-Bus communication standard (EN1434-3). The IC accommodates potential differences between slave and master nodes, requires no polarity consideration for bus connections, and can be powered directly from the bus by the master — eliminating the need for a dedicated power supply at the slave end. During data reception, the built-in dynamic level detection circuit automatically adjusts according to bus length. The transmit current is fixed at 20mA. With an 8-pin configuration and compact package, the MC8722 helps reduce PCB area and requires minimal external components to implement a highly reliable, high-performance M-Bus terminal interface.
