Introduction

MAX487ESA+T is a RS-485 transceiver operating from a 4.5V to 5.5V wide supply voltage, featuring bus-port ESD protection up to 15kV HBM, ±15V bus fault protection, half-duplex operation, and low power consumption, fully compliant with TIA/EIA-485 standard requirements. It integrates one driver and one receiver, both of which can be independently enabled or disabled. When both are disabled, the driver and receiver outputs enter a high-impedance state. The 1/8-unit load allows up to 256 MAX487ESA+T transceivers to be connected on the same communication bus. Error-free data transmission at up to 250kbps is supported. Operating voltage is 3.3V, with fail-safe, current-limiting protection, and overvoltage protection features.
