Introduction

The NAT9914 IEEE 488.2 controller chip implements all interface functions defined by IEEE Standard 488.1-1987 and meets the additional requirements and recommendations of IEEE Standard 488.2-1987. Positioned between the processor and the IEEE 488 bus, it provides advanced bus management, significantly increases driver software throughput, and simplifies both hardware and software design. The NAT9914 fully implements the IEEE 488 Talker, Listener, and Controller functions. Among its numerous enhancements, the NAT9914 is fully pin-compatible with the TI TMS9914A and software-compatible with both the NEC µPD7210 and TI TMS9914A controller chips.
