Introduction

The SC-MacroPixel-MCA is an ultra-lightweight and compact scintillating gamma radiation detection probe, featuring a 14×14×25.4mm (5cc) high-performance ScintiClear SrI₂(Eu) crystal coupled to a SiPM array and read out via a miniature USB multi-channel analyzer (MCA). The ScintiClear sensor delivers high energy resolution with on-chip temperature stabilization and pile-up rejection, housed in a rugged IP67 waterproof enclosure, making the SC-MacroPixel-MCA ideally suited for both field and laboratory applications. The detector also includes a user-friendly GUI compatible with Windows and Android devices.

Thanks to the naturally stable isotopic composition of strontium iodide, ScintiClear crystals exhibit the lowest intrinsic radioactivity among high-energy-resolution scintillators currently available on the market — up to forty times lower than that of LaBr₃(Ce).
