The EPC9513 demonstration board is a 6.78 MHz (lowest ISM band) high-resonance wireless power receiver capable of delivering a regulated 5 V output at up to 5 W when operating in accordance with the AirFuel standard (excluding BLE communication). The board is designed to power mobile devices and similar products in wireless power systems. The EPC9513 includes a device coil and circuitry compliant with AirFuel Alliance Class 3 standards, featuring a full-bridge rectifier based on high-frequency Schottky diodes, a DC smoothing capacitor, and a 5 V regulator. The regulator is based on a SEPIC converter utilizing a 200 V EPC2019 eGaN FET. The power circuitry is mounted on the back of the coil, which is fitted with a ferrite shield to prevent the circuitry from shunting the coil's magnetic field. The EPC9513 schematic includes a tuning circuit for the device coil (with a common-mode choke for EMI suppression), a high-frequency rectifier, and a SEPIC converter-based output regulator. The EPC9513 is powered using a Class 3 AirFuel-compliant device coil, tuned by default to 6.78 MHz for the specific coil provided. The tuning circuit incorporates both parallel and series tuning and is differential to achieve a balanced connection and reduce capacitor voltage. The EPC9513 features two LEDs to indicate that the board is receiving power: the green LED illuminates when the unregulated voltage exceeds 4 V, and the red LED illuminates when the unregulated voltage exceeds 36 V. The EPC9513 employs a TVS diode for limited overvoltage protection, clamping the unregulated voltage to 38 V. The EPC9513 can operate with or without the regulator. The regulator can be disabled by inserting a jumper at position JP50 and connecting the load to the unregulated output terminals. In regulated mode, the EPC9513 controller design ensures stable operation of the wireless power system. The regulator operates at 280 kHz, and the controller features overcurrent protection that limits the load current to 1 A. The EPC9513 device board is equipped with Kelvin connections for accurate measurement of both unregulated and regulated output voltages. Rectified voltage current can also be measured using the built-in shunt resistor. In addition, the EPC9513 provides switching node measurement connections for low-inductance connection to oscilloscope probes to obtain reliable waveforms. The EPC9513 is designed for use with the EPC9127 (10 W EPC9510), EPC9128 (16 W EPC9509), EPC9120 (33 W EPC9512), and EPC9121 (10 W EPC9511) transmitter units.
