Introduction

The MP106 is a high output power amplifier designed to drive capacitive loads, such as piezoelectric devices used in inkjet printing applications. This amplifier uses Apex proprietary technology to integrate discrete semiconductors and passive components in a thermally conductive yet electrically isolated package, delivering high power in a very compact module. The amplifier gain is fixed at -15V/V or -20V/V. It is optimized to achieve a -36V output voltage swing even when using a single 3V DAC with minimal output voltage offset. A combination of internal and external compensation provides slew rate and ensures stability while reducing the total component count required. Auxiliary voltages +VB and -VB at the amplifier stage are used to reduce power dissipation in the output driver.
