Introduction

This specification covers the application and installation of the main connectors and their accessories. For dimensions, materials, and surface finish, refer to the current customer drawings. This application specification applies to the products specified in product specification 108-32189, which provides descriptions of the electrical and mechanical performance of multi-position connectors. Also refer to the current relevant terminal system product and application specifications.

The Super Seal female connector consists of 3 components (1. Housing, 2. Seal, 3. TPA). The housing protects the terminals, secures terminal position, and provides a mounting method. The seal provides sealing protection after the female and male connectors are mated. The TPA ensures terminal position after insertion into the housing, locks the peripheral seal, and provides coding for error-proofing and mating. This product is available in three coding types: A, B, and C. The TPA components differ in color and structure among the coding types to prevent mis-mating. Assemble according to the corresponding coding (i.e., male coding A mates with female coding A). If excessive insertion force is required, verify whether the wrong product has been selected and avoid applying excessive force during mis-mating, as this may cause product damage. If product damage results from excessive force, replace the damaged components before completing the assembly.

Figures 2.3.1.2, 2.3.1.3, and 2.3.1.4 illustrate the 180° and 90° rear backshells for both male and female connectors, which provide protection at the rear of the connector to achieve an IP69K protection rating.
