Introduction

8-position industrial connectors designed for manufacturing environments, meeting or exceeding Category 5e performance requirements per ANSI/TIA-568-C.2. Integrated RJ45 jacks and plugs feature IP67-rated sealing to protect against dust and temporary immersion common in harsh industrial environments. Tethered protective caps maintain IP67 protection for both connector and plug when unmated. Secondary seals on the connector and plug provide an additional environmental barrier. Terminates to 4-pair 24 AWG 100-ohm twisted pair cable with no punch-down tool required. Achieves IP67 rating when mated with IP67 and NEMA UL Type 12 industrial bayonet-style patch cords.

Applications

The embedded RJ45 Industrial Ethernet connector is a critical component across Industrial Ethernet applications. In most designs, the embedded connector serves as the interface protecting the integrity of Ethernet data transmission from switches and PLCs to equipment or factory-level backbones. Typical work cells require IP67 protection, such as in areas requiring washdown — common in the food and beverage industry where bacterial contamination is a concern. The embedded connector also offers high-temperature resistance, with a storage temperature of 85°C and an operating temperature of 70°C. High temperatures are common in manufacturing facilities such as metalworking, welding, and chemical batch processing operations. Vibration is also a concern, for example in automotive panel stamping plants and work cells.
