Introduction

EPIC brand rectangular connector inserts are available in multiple series for different power and control applications. The HBE series is designed for medium power and control applications; the HA series is a compact insert for medium power and control applications; the HQ series is a compact insert with 5 + PE contacts for power and control applications; the STA series is an insert with solid spring design contacts for control applications; the HEE series is a high contact density insert for power and control applications; the HBS series is a high current capacity insert for power applications; the HBVE series is a high-voltage insert with two switching contacts for power applications; the HD series is a compact high contact density insert for control applications; the HDD series is a compact ultra-high contact density insert for control applications; the MC series is a modular insert for custom configurations; and the Hybrid Power series is an insert with combined power and signal contacts.

EPIC brand connector housings are available in the HB series and HA series, with standard gray color and protection ratings of NEMA 4 and IP65. Strain relief devices provide a seal between the cable and connector housing, and can also provide additional functions such as strain relief and braid continuity for EMC protection. Connector hoods allow cable entry while protecting contact terminations from physical and environmental damage. EPIC rectangular hoods feature top or side entry, and are available in multiple sizes and entry thread types (PG, NPT, or metric). Inserts are used to house and insulate contacts; contact termination types include screw termination, crimp termination (stamped or machined), and cage spring clamp (screwless spring). Bases mate with hoods to complete the connection, with options including panel mount (cable enters through a panel cutout), surface mount (cable enters from the side of the connector base through a sealing gland), and cable connector hood (cable-to-cable connection, commonly used for cable extension). The HD and HDD series are developed in accordance with DIN standard 43652. EPIC connectors meet protection rating standards only when mated.
