Introduction

ElecSuper has developed the TDS (Transient Diversion Suppressor) using "SuperSurgeControl" technology for protection against EOS and ESD events. It employs IC technology to deliver a robust surge protection solution. Rather than relying on PN junction breakdown and current dissipation as in conventional TVS diodes, it diverts surge current to ground through a built-in surge-rated FET with lower on-resistance than the PN junction in a TVS diode. As a result, TDS devices provide a precise, smooth, temperature-independent clamping voltage, minimizing the residual voltage across the protected system.

The TDS3311P.C(ES) is ideally suited for protecting power buses operating at voltages up to 33V, with a rated transient peak pulse current of 50A (tp = 8/20 μs). The TDS comes in a compact DFN1616-6L package — 90% smaller than the industry-standard SMA/SMB package — offering lower capacitance and 50% lower leakage current compared to conventional TVS-based solutions.
