Introduction

ElecSuper developed the TDS (Transient Diversion Suppressor) using "SuperSurgeControl" technology to protect against EOS and ESD events. Built on IC technology, it delivers a robust surge protection solution. Rather than relying on PN junction breakdown and current shunting as in conventional TVS diodes, the TDS routes surge current to ground through an integrated surge-rated FET with lower on-resistance than the PN junction in a TVS diode. As a result, TDS devices provide precise, smooth, temperature-independent clamping voltage, minimizing the residual voltage across the protected system.

The ESTDS3311P is ideal for protecting power buses operating up to 33V, with a rated transient peak pulse current of 50A (tp = 8/20 μs). The TDS comes in a compact DFN1616-6L package — 90% smaller than industry-standard SMA/SMB packages — with lower capacitance and 50% lower leakage current compared to conventional TVS-based solutions.
