Introduction

The EClamp™2522P is an easy-to-implement solution for protection and termination of low-speed or full-speed USB ports. Each device provides termination, filtering, and ESD protection for one upstream USB port on mobile phones and other portable electronic devices. This advanced device utilizes solid-state silicon avalanche technology, delivering excellent clamping performance and electrical characteristics.

Line termination is achieved using 22Ω series resistors on the D+ and D− USB lines. TVS diodes are also integrated on each data line to provide ESD protection to IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4, withstanding electrostatic discharges exceeding ±15kV (air discharge) and ±8kV (contact discharge). An additional TVS diode connection is provided to protect the voltage (VBus) bus. A 1.5kΩ pull-up resistor is integrated on one of the USB data lines to identify whether the device is full-speed (connected to the D+ line) or low-speed (connected to the D− line).

The EClamp2522P is offered in a 6-pin, RoHS-compliant SLP1616P6 package. It measures 1.6×1.6×0.60mm with a 0.5mm pin pitch and lead-free NiPdAu pin finish. This compact package makes it ideal for portable electronic devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras.
