Introduction

The MI 500 is an AC current transformer suitable for a voltage range of (0.4 - 4 Vp), proportional to the measured current, corresponding to measured currents of 5, 20, 100, and 500 AAC. The conductor under test passes through the center hole of the current measuring transformer. Passing the conductor through the hole multiple times allows measurement of currents below the nominal range. The output voltage is proportional in both amplitude and phase to the measured phase current. For example, when the conductor passes through the center hole 5 times and the current in the conductor is 10 A, the measuring transformer will register 50 A, at which point 4 Vₚ will equal the RMS value of the nominal phase current.
