Features

• Toroidal design.
• Equipped with 24-inch insulated secondary leads terminated with crimp ring connectors. Suitable for bare (uninsulated) primary conductors in circuits up to 600V (4KV hipot tested); also suitable for higher voltages when used with appropriately insulated conductors.
• Secondary current of 5A for all units, compatible with standard AC ammeters with 5A range. All models include dual-hole mounting brackets.

Applications

• To obtain a current measurement:
  1. Pass the wire carrying the current to be measured through the window of the current transformer (CT) (as the primary winding).
  2. Connect the CT secondary to an ammeter on the 5A range.
• For higher accuracy or higher VA burden ratings:
  1. Select a CT whose primary turns are a multiple of the desired primary rating and that has the required accuracy or VA burden.
  2. Pass the wire carrying the current to be measured through the window a number of times equal to that multiple. This "winding" method restores the ratio to the desired primary rating. Example A: To achieve 1.2% accuracy at a 100:5 ratio under a 10VA burden, use a CT400 and pass 4 primary turns through the window. Example B: To obtain a 25:5 ratio, use a CT75 with 3 primary turns for 2% accuracy, or use a CT50 with 2 primary turns for 3.2% accuracy.
