Introduction

CTG is a series of zero-sequence current transformers. These devices detect current differences on the lines passing through the coil. They are suitable for single-phase or three-phase power supplies. When the vector sum of the current flowing to the load and the current on the neutral cable (if present) is not "0" (zero), a current is generated in the CT secondary circuit. Current differences are typically caused by leakage currents that may present a hazard. The output signal can be used by a residual current monitoring device, which will either disconnect the monitored load or trigger an alarm signal.

Applications

CTG units are used to detect potentially dangerous current leakage on electrical loads. Typically used with motors, pumps, or equipment installed in metal structures. They are approved for use with Carlo Gavazzi DEA71 and DEB71 earth leakage monitoring relays.
