Introduction

The S Series double-sealed waterproof toggle switches achieve IP68 protection rating. Electrical ratings (resistive load) power levels are shown in the table below. Contact resistance is 10 mΩ max, insulation resistance is 1000 MΩ min (500V DC), and dielectric strength is 2000V AC min for 1 minute. Regarding mechanical life, S1AWB, S2AWB, S3AWB, S6AWB, S7AWB, and S21AWB are rated for a minimum of 50,000 operations; S5AWB, S8AWB, S25AWB, and S28AWB for a minimum of 30,000 operations; electrical life is a minimum of 25,000 operations. Operating temperature range is -30°C to +70°C (-22°F to +158°F). Sealing is achieved via a dust cover at the base of the lever and O-rings on both the inside and outside of the bushing, providing IP68 protection per IEC60529 (dustproof and protected against the effects of temporary immersion). For soldering, hand soldering is performed at 390°C for 4 seconds, for 2 cycles. Waterproofing test conditions: the switch is submerged 5 cm below the water surface (see diagram) and actuated 50 times at a rate of 50–60 cycles per minute; the switch is then submerged 1.5 m below the water surface and held for 30 minutes, after which the actuation test is repeated. Final insulation resistance and voltage ratings remain within specified values, and no water has entered the switch or mounting panel.
