Introduction

The SCXL-MaxSonar-WRS series sensors are optimized for "soft acoustic" targets such as snow and feature an effective self-cleaning function designed to reduce the effects of condensation in enclosed or high-humidity environments (dew, frost, etc.), providing high-accuracy, high-resolution ultrasonic proximity detection and ranging in air with an IP67 protection rating. This sensor series offers 1 mm resolution, target size and operating voltage compensation for improved accuracy, superior suppression of external noise sources, built-in speed-of-sound temperature compensation, and optional external speed-of-sound temperature compensation. The SCXL MaxSonar-WRS self-cleaning sensors have a maximum range of 5 meters. These ultrasonic sensors can detect objects from 50 cm to the maximum range. Objects closer than 50 cm are typically reported as 50 cm. Interface output formats include pulse width, analog voltage, and RS232 or TTL digital serial. Factory calibration is standard.
