Introduction

The HRUSB-MaxSonar-EZ series sensors are high-performance ultrasonic rangefinders. These sensors interface via a USB Micro-B connector, feature a compact form factor, and include mounting holes on the PCB. The HRUSB-MaxSonar-EZ transmits serial data to the host operating system, which can then be read from a registered COM port (or equivalent) using a terminal program, or read directly from the OS using appropriate software functions. The sensors are powered through the USB connection and begin operating after USB handshaking is complete. Distance data is continuously sent to the host operating system and can be read at any time. The connection is handled automatically by device drivers compatible with most operating systems. Configuration steps vary slightly depending on the target operating system, but the fundamental sensor operation and transmitted data remain consistent.
