Introduction

The HRXL-MaxSonar-WRS series sensors are a cost-effective solution for applications requiring precise ranging, low-voltage operation, space savings, low cost, and IP67 protection. This sensor component module allows users to reduce the cost of other more expensive precision ultrasonic snow depth measurement rangefinders in their systems without sacrificing performance. In addition, this series enables cost-sensitive designers to select this precision sensor as a performance upgrade over other lower-performance sensors. The HRXL-MaxSonar-WRS series provides high-accuracy, high-resolution ultrasonic proximity detection and air ranging with IP67 protection. The series features 1mm resolution, accuracy improvement through target size and operating voltage compensation, excellent rejection of external noise sources, built-in acoustic velocity temperature compensation, and optional external acoustic velocity temperature compensation. The maximum range of the HRXL-MaxSonar-WRS sensor is 5 meters. This ultrasonic sensor can detect objects starting from 1mm, with a ranging span from 50cm to maximum distance. Objects closer than 50cm are typically reported as 50cm. Interface output formats include pulse width, analog voltage, and digital serial (RS232 or TTL). Factory calibration is standard.
