Introduction

The integrated circuit silicon sensor die is packaged in a standard TO-8 electrical package suitable for PCB mounting. Using state-of-the-art micromachining technology, piezoresistive strain gauges are ion-implanted into a Wheatstone bridge configuration, monolithically formed on a micromachined silicon diaphragm. Like all NovaSensor silicon sensors, the NPH series incorporates SenStable® processing technology for excellent output stability. Supplying a constant current excitation to the sensor produces a voltage output linearly proportional to the applied pressure. Standard signal conditioning circuitry can be provided by the user to amplify the 100mV output signal. The sensor is compatible with most non-corrosive gases and dry air. A laser-trimmed thick-film resistor network on a hybrid ceramic substrate provides temperature compensation.
