Introduction

The PTM-1000 Pressure Transducer Module is a 4-channel test instrument designed to measure differential pressure in enclosures where airflow integrity is critical to normal performance. As the demand for more energy-efficient cooling grows, so does the need to measure pressure at each heat source. In thermal characterization applications, the PTM-1000 can measure pressure drop across board and component channels, differential pressure across pitot tubes, orifice plates, and venturi tubes, inlet/exhaust pressure drop in forced convection cooling systems, and pressure drop across in-line filters. The module includes the user-friendly stagePRESSURE application software for easy data viewing and logging. Users can save pressure data from all four channels as a function of elapsed time to study raw data history. The system offers two pressure ranges — 0–0.15 PSI and 0–0.30 PSI — for precise measurement in telecom, networking, embedded computing, and other high-performance electronics applications. Data accuracy is within 1% of full scale. The pressure sensors can measure pressure at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 120°C with data accuracy within 1% of full scale. The PTM-1000 connects to a PC via USB for power and data communication. It can be powered by a 5V supply and provides four independent 0–5V analog output signals proportional to the pressure of each channel. These features enable easy integration into other control circuits that require analog voltage as an input signal. ATS also offers the PTB-1000 pressure sensor as a standalone board for OEM applications or system integration.
