Introduction

The MS54XX series is a miniature surface-mount absolute pressure sensor designed for pressure sensing systems with extremely high requirements for resolution and accuracy. The device consists of a silicon micromachined pressure sensor die mounted on a 6.2×6.4 mm ceramic carrier. It is available in a high-sensitivity version and a high-linearity version, both of which provide an output voltage proportional to the applied pressure. Its key advantages lie in the high performance of semiconductor sensing elements combined with a design suited for compact, cost-effective applications. The sensing element consists of a micromachined silicon diaphragm with a borosilicate glass wafer vacuum-bonded to the backside as the reference pressure. Implanted resistors utilize the piezoresistive effect to sense the pressure applied to the diaphragm. The sensor is mounted using a specialized process that provides excellent offset stability and is suitable for direct PCB assembly.
