Introduction

The internal pressure sensor uses a piezoresistive semiconductor element. The resistance of the semiconductor element (silicon wafer) changes proportionally with pressure. As pressure increases, the interatomic spacing of silicon atoms decreases, which in turn lowers the resistance of the silicon wafer. The EZO-PRS reads gauge pressure only. A gauge pressure sensor reads pressure relative to atmospheric pressure, and always sets the atmospheric pressure reading to 0. An absolute pressure sensor reads pressure relative to the vacuum of space. The Atlas Scientific EZO-PRS embedded pressure sensor is partially calibrated at the factory. When using the sensor for the first time, a small pressure reading may be observed even without a pressure source connected. Issue the "Cal,0" command to complete the calibration process.
