Introduction

KP264 is a small digital barometric pressure sensor IC based on capacitive sensing principles. It employs surface micromachining technology and integrates a monolithic signal conditioning circuit implemented in BiCMOS technology. The sensor converts pressure into a 10-bit digital value and transmits data via SPI interface. Additionally, a temperature sensor is integrated on-chip. Upon receipt of SPI commands, 10-bit temperature information is transmitted through the SPI interface. A special reliability feature is the integrated diagnostic mode, which allows testing of the sensor element and the signal path. This diagnostic can be simply triggered via SPI command. The IC is housed in a "green" SMD package. The sensor is primarily intended for barometric pressure measurement but is also applicable to other application domains. The device's high accuracy, high sensitivity, and reliability make it well suited for advanced automotive applications as well as industrial and consumer applications.
