Introduction

The HCD Series hermetically sealed DC LVDT is designed for high-performance measurement in environments with moisture, dust, and liquid contaminants. Powered by a rated ±15VDC supply, it delivers an extremely linear, low-noise, high-frequency-response ±10VDC output signal. The integral electrical connector (soldered, glass-sealed MS type) facilitates installation and allows damaged cables to be replaced without harming the sensor. The HCD covers a stroke range of ±0.05 in [±1.27 mm] to ±10 in [±254 mm], with multiple standard options including inch or metric threaded cores, guided cores, and captive cores. The windings are vacuum-impregnated with a specially formulated high-temperature flexible resin, and the coil assembly is potted in the housing with a two-part epoxy, providing effective resistance to harsh environments such as high vibration and shock. The captive core option simplifies installation; the core rod and bearing assembly feature a front-end bronze bearing for self-alignment, and a PTFE sleeve enables low-friction travel.
