Introduction

The XS-D series LVDT is designed to measure relatively large displacements in applications where mounting space is limited. Compared to other standard LVDTs, it offers a greater displacement range without increasing body length or weight. Using a special coil winding technique, the XS-D allows a linear measurement range of up to 80% of the housing length. This series is compact, shock- and vibration-resistant, with infinite resolution and repeatability — suitable for servo mechanisms, as a replacement for linear potentiometers, or anywhere precise displacement measurement is required in space-constrained applications. All models come with a calibration certificate and are available with imperial or metric threaded cores. The XS-D series is compatible with all Measurement Specialties LVDT signal conditioners, controllers, and readout units. The windings are vacuum-impregnated with a specially formulated high-temperature flexible resin, and the coil assembly is encapsulated within the housing using a two-component epoxy, providing excellent resistance to harsh environments including high humidity, vibration, and shock.
