Introduction

The HCD Series sealed DC LVDT is ideal for high-performance measurement in environments exposed to moisture, dirt, and fluid contaminants. This heavy-duty LVDT series operates from a nominal ±15VDC supply and delivers an extremely linear, low-noise, high-frequency-response ±10VDC output. The integrated electrical connector (soldered, glass-sealed MS type) simplifies installation and allows damaged cables to be replaced without harming the sensor. The HCD stroke range spans from ±0.05 inches [±1.27mm] to ±10 inches [±254mm], with multiple standard options available including inch or metric threaded cores, guided cores, and captive cores. As with most LVDTs, the HCD windings are vacuum-impregnated with a specially formulated high-temperature flexible resin, and the coil assembly is potted in two-component epoxy within its housing, providing excellent protection in harsh environments such as high vibration and shock. Captive Core Option: The HCD offers an optional captive core design (available on most models) that greatly simplifies installation. The core and bearing assembly includes a front-end bronze bearing for self-alignment, while a PTFE bushing allows low-friction movement of the core within a stainless steel liner (bobbin tube).
