Introduction

The HSDL-3005 is a small form factor enhanced infrared (IR) transceiver available in both front-view and top-view modules. It is capable of: (1) providing an interface between logic signals and IR signals for wireless, serial, half-duplex IR data links; (2) providing IR remote control transmission for general remote control applications. For IR data communications, the HSDL-3005 offers flexibility for low-power SIR and remote control applications, with application type selection requiring no external components. The transceiver complies with the IrDA (p) Physical Layer Specification Version 1.4 low-power standard at data rates from 9.6 kbit/s to 115.2 kbit/s (SIR), and meets the IEC 825 Class 1 eye safety standard. The HSDL-3005 features an extremely low quiescent current and can be fully shut down for ultra-low power consumption. In shutdown mode, the PIN diode is inactive, generating minimal photocurrent even under very bright ambient light conditions. These characteristics make it ideal for battery-powered handheld products such as PDAs and mobile phones.
