Introduction

The HSDL-3210 is one of Lite-On Technology's new generation of low-cost IR transceiver modules. Measuring 2.5H x 8.0W x 3.0D mm, it is one of the smallest footprints in the industry. Although the supply voltage range is 2.7 V to 3.6 V, the LED is driven by an internal constant current source of 60 mA at SIR data rates and 150 mA at MIR data rates. The HSDL-3210 features adjustable optical power. When the nominal required link distance is very short, the optical power can be reduced. At a link distance of 5 cm, only 6% of full power is required. The HSDL-3210 supports the Serial Interface for Transceiver Control specification, which provides a universal interface between the transceiver and the controller. It is also designed to interface with I/O logic circuits operating at voltages as low as 1.5 V.
