Introduction

The Telaire T8700 uses a robust capacitive sensor to provide full-range measurement of 0–100% RH, with excellent response time, linearity, and stability. It offers outstanding recovery from condensation and chemical exposure, and an integrated filter helps ensure long service life. All sensors undergo rigorous digital calibration and are certified to comply with primary NIST reference standards. NIST certificates are available for an additional fee. The product is designed for high configurability in the field or warehouse, minimizing the number of required configurations to reduce distributor inventory costs and provide maximum flexibility for installers. All versions feature field-selectable outputs as well as passive and 10K Type II thermistors. The signal-conditioned temperature is calibrated from 32°F to 122°F, and RH is calibrated from 0–100%. All Telaire T8700 models feature a rugged, flame-retardant UL-94V ABS plastic enclosure. The wall-mount enclosure is specifically designed to promote enhanced airflow, improving sensor response and virtually eliminating the "self-heating" effect from transmitter electronics that can degrade measurement accuracy. All Telaire T8700 models use a two-piece enclosure with a backplate containing terminal blocks, eliminating the need for wiring in tight spaces and allowing the unit to be pre-wired separately from the electronics. This is particularly attractive in unfinished buildings, where exposed sensors and electronics may be damaged by moisture, drywall dust, and paint. The product offers a two-year warranty, simplifies inventory management, reduces installation time, and supports field serviceability — a benchmark for low total cost of ownership and outstanding value. Display versions scroll between percent RH and temperature readings. Both US and European sizing versions are available.
