Introduction

The MT9222 product family are fully integrated, Hall effect-based isolated linear current sensor ICs designed for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. Each MT9222 consists of a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit with a built-in low insertion resistance current conductor path. The applied current flowing through this low-resistance current conductor path generates a magnetic field, which the IC converts into an output voltage proportional to the input current. To effectively suppress external common-mode magnetic fields, a differential current sensing technique is employed, improving accuracy in magnetically noisy environments. IC accuracy is enhanced by optimizing the magnetic signal-to-noise ratio. A low-offset, chopper-stabilized Hall IC based on BCD process technology provides a precise ratiometric voltage that is accurately calibrated during manufacture. When the applied current flows through the internal current-conducting path (from pins 1, 2, 3, and 4 to pins 5, 6, 7, and 8), the IC output has a positive slope. The internal resistance of this conductive path is typically 0.85mΩ, enabling low power dissipation. The terminals of the conductive path (pins 1 through 8) are electrically isolated from the signal lines (pins 9 through 16). This allows the MT9222 current sensor IC to be used in high-side current sensing applications without the need for other costly isolation techniques. The MT9222 series is offered to customers in a SOP-16W package, which is RoHS compliant.
