Introduction

The MagnTek MT9523 product family is a fully integrated, Hall-effect-based isolated linear current sensor IC designed for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communication systems. Each MT9523 consists of a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit and a built-in current conductor path with low insertion resistance. The applied current flowing through this low-resistance current conductor path generates a magnetic field, which the IC converts into a voltage output proportional to the input current. To effectively suppress external common-mode magnetic fields, a differential current sensing technique is employed, improving accuracy in magnetically noisy environments. Accuracy is further enhanced by optimizing the magnetic signal-to-noise ratio. The low-offset, chopper-stabilized Hall IC based on BCD process technology delivers a precise ratiometric voltage that is accurately calibrated during manufacturing. When the applied current flows through the internal current conduction path (from pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4), the output exhibits a positive slope. The typical internal resistance of this conduction path is 1.0 mΩ, enabling low power dissipation. The terminals of the conduction path (pins 1 through 4) are electrically isolated from the signal lines (pins 5 through 6). This allows the MT9523 current sensor IC to be used in high-side current sensing applications without the need for other costly isolation techniques.
